Recorded at Woodland Sound Studio in Nashville, in 1972, this record uncovers a different side of Screamin' Jay that you may not be used to. Straying from his wilder, more unpredictable tendencies these cleaner, more disciplined recordings display this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer as an all-round R&B and Blues artist. Electric blues, slow and boogieing piano blues, soulful funky blues – it's all here and on display. Revisiting Fats Domino's 'Please Don't Leave Me' and Conway Twitty's 'It's Only Make Believe' as well as adding a number of his own compositions into the fold, this album underlines Hawkins as one of the most prolific and complete rhythm and blues act of his time.
